Which application details should be shared when requesting steam-cleaner installation requirements?

When a buyer asks a supplier for a steam cleaning machine quotation, most of the conversation is usually spent on power rating and price. Those two numbers matter, but they are not what decides whether the machine works on the day it arrives. The deciding factor is how much of the application the buyer described up front. Installation requirements are not only about where the unit will stand; they are about water, power, drainage, floor temperature, access routes and the cleaning task the machine is expected to finish.

1. What is being cleaned, and how often

Start with the soiling, not the equipment. Heavy grease on a vehicle exterior or an engine compartment behaves differently from dust on a workshop floor or residue on fixed steam cleaning equipment installed at a wash bay. Tell the supplier what surfaces you clean, what the deposit actually is (grease, oil, food residue, road grime), how large the area is per shift, and how many cleaning cycles you expect per day. Frequency and area drive tank capacity, duty cycle and whether a fixed or a mobile unit fits the workflow better.

2. Utilities at the installation point

Give the electrical and water situation in writing. For a fixed installation, confirm the available supply voltage, the socket type and whether the circuit is dedicated. The PowerDe HW02 fixed steam cleaning machine, for example, is listed with a 220 V working voltage and 6 kW heating power, with an 80 L SUS304 tank and a tap-water inlet using a 4-point internal-tooth joint (1/2 inch). If your site uses a different inlet fitting, a different supply, or you cannot run a dedicated line to the position, the supplier needs to know that before the machine is built, not when the crate is opened.

3. Space, access and drainage

Share the floor plan, door widths, ceiling height and the route from the delivery vehicle to the final position. The HW02 page lists a footprint of 1,200 × 800 × 1,200 mm including handles, which is the number a buyer should check against the doorway and the bay, not the marketing photo. Then describe what happens to the run-off: is there a floor drain, an oil separator, a bunded area, or nothing at all? Wash water that carries grease or food residue cannot simply flow into a storm drain, and the answer changes where the machine is placed and which lance, nozzle or recovery accessory belongs in the package.

4. Ambient conditions and machine mode

Describe the room, not just the task. Is the area indoors or outdoors, above or below freezing, humid, dusty, or washed down with a hose afterwards? Steam machines on the PowerDe cleaning range switch between dry steam and wet steam; the HW02 detail page lists steam temperature at 160° and vapour pressure at 0.8 Mpa. Whether those settings suit your surface — painted panels, gaskets, electrical enclosures, flooring, kitchen equipment — depends on what you tell the supplier about the material and the dwell time your staff can tolerate. If a surface is temperature-sensitive, say so; do not assume the supplier will ask.

5. Who operates it, and when

State whether the machine will be run by one trained technician, by rotating general staff, or by an outsourced cleaning contractor, and whether cleaning happens inside production hours or in a night window. That determines the control layout, the safety features you want confirmed, and the training and documentation you should request with the machine. HW02 is described on its product page as carrying leakage, short-circuit, high-temperature, high-voltage, water-shortage and high-voltage-explosion protection — ask the supplier to confirm in writing which of these are relevant to your installation and how each is checked during commissioning.

6. What to attach to your enquiry

A usable enquiry usually contains: photos of the position and the surface being cleaned; the floor plan with the access route; the supply voltage and water inlet details; the drainage arrangement; a list of the deposits to be removed; the expected cycles per day; and any site rule about chemicals, water discharge or working hours. Include the standard you must satisfy, if a customer, insurer or inspector imposes one. If your cleaning task sits outside the vehicle, parking-facility and engine-compartment uses listed on the product pages, say so explicitly and ask whether the model is appropriate or whether a different configuration is needed.

Then let the supplier respond to the specifics

Compare responses on the questions they raise, not on the discount they offer. A supplier who asks about your drainage before quoting a tank size, or who flags that your inlet fitting is not standard, is doing the engineering work you are paying for. Shenzhen PowerDe Automation Precision Equipment lists customization and engineering services alongside its cleaning equipment, so an enquiry built on the six items above can be answered with a configuration rather than a generic catalogue line. Send the application detail first; the specification is the output of that conversation, not the starting point.
