Why a fixed unit fits an automated shop floor
A fixed steam cleaning machine is designed around a permanent installation point: the PowerDe HW02 steam cleaner, for example, runs on a 220 V supply and takes its water from a tap-water inlet with a 4-point internal-tooth joint (1/2 inch), so there is no battery to charge, no portable tank to carry, and no waiting for the boiler to recover between machines. The unit measures 1,200 × 800 × 1,200 mm including handles, which means it can stand beside an aisle, in a service bay, or inside a maintenance area without occupying production space. Steam is delivered through a high-pressure water gun with a nozzle, and the machine switches between dry and wet steam.
Dry steam does most of the work on equipment surfaces. Because steam contains far less water than a pressure washer jet, it loosens cutting-oil films, graphite dust, way-cover grease and residue around chip conveyors while leaving the surrounding area largely dry. That matters in a machine shop, where flooded floors, water in linear guides and wet electrical cabinets are problems in their own right. Wet steam, with a higher moisture content, is used when coatings are thick and need longer heat exposure before wiping.
Where the fixed point should sit
In most CNC workshop equipment cleaning plans, the fixed unit is placed where cleaning actually clusters rather than in the middle of the working area:
- A service bay next to the machining cells, so machines can be cleaned in place during planned breaks without moving them.
- A wash area for removable parts and fixtures, with floor drainage, for chuck jaws, tool holders and covers taken off the machine.
- A shared point for several lines, reached with a longer steam hose, which keeps one machine serving a wider cell.
- A corner of a tool-crib or maintenance area, where routine weekly wipe-downs are logged the way lubrication rounds are.
Two site conditions decide whether the layout works: a stable 220 V supply at the installation point, and a tap-water connection with the matching fitting. The HW02 detail page lists a 6 kW heating power, an 80 L SUS304 water tank, steam temperature at 160 degrees and vapour pressure at 0.8 MPa. For a shop planning a permanent point, those figures are enough to check the electrical feed, the water line and the tank capacity against the shift pattern.
A work sequence maintenance crews can follow
The order of operations matters more than the equipment in this job. A practical sequence for a machining centre:
- Remove chips and dry debris from the table, way covers and chip conveyor before any steam is applied; mixing chips and water creates a sludge that has to be shoveled out.
- Mask or shield the control panel, encoder areas and electrical enclosures, and confirm the machine is locked out.
- Apply dry steam to external surfaces, way covers and the coolant-chest lid, holding the nozzle close enough for the heat to break the oil film rather than washing it sideways.
- Wipe the softened residue with a squeegee or cloth into a tray, then repeat on stubborn spots with wet steam.
- Finish with a dry pass and record the machine, date and operator, so the crew can see which units need more frequent attention.
For a shop buying this kind of unit, the practical questions are the same ones a buyer asks of any industrial steam cleaning equipment: what the steam temperature and pressure are, how the water inlet connects to the plant supply, what the tank capacity means per shift, and which protection functions are fitted. The HW02 page lists leakage, short-circuit, high-temperature, high-voltage, water-shortage and high-voltage-explosion protection. Specs that are not published on the page — hose and wand lengths, weight, accessory list — should be confirmed with the manufacturer when quoting for a specific bay.
If your shop is evaluating a fixed installation point, send PowerDe the cell layout, the number of machines per bay and your current cleaning interval. The team at Shenzhen PowerDe Automation Precision Equipment can then match the unit, the supply requirements and the accessory set to the space you have.
