When a battery-powered cleaning machine is quoted, the machine itself is rarely the source of delay on delivery day. The delay comes from the site: no agreed charging point, a tap that does not match the inlet fitting, a doorway the unit cannot clear. Run the checks below in writing before the order is placed, and first-day installation stops being an improvisation.
1. Which variant is actually on the order
The HMW3 is sold in two versions: one with a battery and one without. The working power supply recorded on the product page is a 48 V battery, and the machine heats and pumps from that pack rather than from a wall socket. That single fact drives almost every other question: where it charges, how long it runs, and how a shift is planned. A crew briefed only on "the steam machine" cannot tell which version they are commissioning, so the order document must state the variant explicitly.
2. A charging position, not an improvised one
Fix the charging location during planning. It should be a permanent position with its own circuit, confirmed by the site electrician, and not the nearest socket shared with other equipment over a trailing extension lead. Charging in a store that also holds packaging or other combustible stock should be ruled out at the same time.
Battery capacity, runtime and charger output are not published on the product page, so do not build a rota around an assumed runtime. Ask the supplier in writing for capacity, charge time, charger specification and whether an interchangeable spare pack is available for the order. Those four answers decide whether one unit covers a shift or a rotation is needed.
3. Water supply, fitting size and feed-water quality
The machine takes tap water through a 4-point internal-tooth fitting and carries a 50 L clean water tank. Three checks follow:
- A refill tap within practical walking distance of the work area. Count the round trips a shift needs and decide who owns that task.
- The fitting. If the site tap does not match the inlet, order the adapter with the machine rather than after it arrives.
- Feed-water quality. Scale is the long-term risk for any heated cleaning machine. Record which supply the tank is filled from, and agree the water treatment method and descaling interval with the supplier at handover.
4. Drainage, route control and run-off
Steam cleaning uses far less water than a hose, but the run-off still carries the soil or grease being removed. Agree a drain or collection point before work starts. In clinical and care areas, where this machine is positioned for cleaning and disinfecting hospital beds and medical machinery, agree the route with the facilities and infection-control leads: refill point, wet-wheel path, and which corridors are out of bounds during cleaning hours. The output of this check is a one-page route map handed to the operator on day one.
5. Measure the doorway, not the room
Published overall dimensions are L1150 x W520 x H1030 mm, and the mode of movement is hand push. Check the loading door, internal doors and any lift against those figures before delivery, and check them with the tank full rather than empty — the machine behaves differently under load. A unit that fits the work area but not the entrance is an expensive problem discovered too late.
6. Storage, frost and battery care
Allocate a dry, covered store that stays above freezing for the machine and its pack. Equipment left outdoors or in a cold store with water still in the tank and lines fails avoidably. Keep the storage position and the charging position together, so the unit is not moved while on charge.
7. Mode selection belongs in the induction
The machine switches between dry steam and wet steam, and choosing the wrong mode wastes time and battery charge. Dry steam carries most of the heat with little free water, which suits surfaces where run-off is unwelcome; wet steam carries more water and suits loosening heavy soil. The battery variants in this range are described with leakage, short-circuit, high-temperature, high-voltage and water-shortage protection. Those are shutdown layers, not permission to work faster: staff need to know what a tripped protection means and what to report, rather than restarting the machine without recording why it stopped.
8. Send this with the enquiry
A complete brief removes most on-site surprises: the variant required; the intended duty, including whether disinfection of beds and medical machinery is in scope; photographs of the planned charging and storage position; the tap and fitting at the refill point; the drain or collection point; doorway and lift dimensions; and the shift pattern the runtime has to support. Shenzhen PowerDe Automation Precision Equipment supports customized configuration and engineering services, so site answers given while the quotation is open are what allow the missing figures — capacity, runtime, charger output — to be confirmed in writing before the order is placed.
Where a site needs a second unit for an area with no supply at the point of work, the cleaning equipment series also covers driving-style and hand-pushed units. The rule stays the same either way: confirm the variant, then install to the confirmed document. Sites comparing several units can review the PowerDe steam cleaning machine range in the same conversation, since charging, water and access requirements are shared across the range.
