Why the acceptance plan belongs in the purchase order

A membrane-electrode hot-press bonding machine is bought against numbers, so it should be accepted against numbers. The 7-Layer Membrane Electrode Hot press Bonding Machine listing on the PowerDe site specifies a fitting error of 0.2 mm or less, a working temperature of 150 °C or less, a press pressure of 2 t, and a production cycle of 1.5 pcs/min or better. Those four published figures — plus the 5-layer Membrane Electrode Vacuum Hot Pressing Bonding Machine figure of 60 Pa or less working vacuum, if you are taking the vacuum variant — become the pass criteria of your acceptance plan. Anything the listing does not publish is a value you require in writing before the machine ships.

Write the plan as one document with four stages: factory acceptance, site acceptance, a run-in period, and handover. Put it into the purchase order so both sides are measuring the same thing on the same day.

1. Factory acceptance test: what is proven at the vendor

  • Fitting accuracy: alignment measured on your fixture or an agreed representative part, with the method, instrument and number of repeats defined in the plan.
  • Temperature performance: plate or platen temperature at the setpoint across the working area, uniformity between points, and stability over a holding period.
  • Pressure performance: applied press pressure measured at the load cell or gauge, parallelism of the platen, and pressure profile through the press stroke.
  • Cycle time: measured time per piece over a continuous run, not a single lucky cycle.
  • For the vacuum variant: achieved vacuum level, leak rate, and cycle time with the vacuum pull included.
  • Process trial on agreed material, with the resulting samples inspected by your own team using your own criteria.

Name the instruments and their calibration status in the plan. A figure measured with an uncalibrated gauge is not acceptance evidence, and disputes over alignment or temperature are settled by whoever documented the measurement.

2. Site acceptance: the same criteria under your conditions

Repeat the critical measurements after installation, because transport, levelling and your own utilities change behaviour. Confirm the electrical supply, compressed-air quality where the machine uses it, and any cooling or exhaust requirement from the vendor's utility schedule. Check levelling and anchoring, guarding and interlocks, emergency stop function, and that the control system connects to your network or data collection on the agreed terms. Then run the process trial again with your materials, your operator and your ambient conditions. Site acceptance is passed when the same figures that passed at the factory pass in your plant.

3. Quality criteria on real product, not just machine outputs

Define what a good bonded part is in your terms, and write it into the plan alongside the machine figures: the inspection method for bond quality, the defect types that reject a piece, the allowable range for the dimension the fitting error protects, and the sample size per batch during the trial. For multilayer membrane-electrode work, agree how the trial batch is split — first pieces of the run, mid-run and end-of-run — so drift is visible rather than averaged away. Set the run-in acceptance as a combination of yield and availability over the agreed period, so a machine that meets a specification only when it is being watched does not pass.

4. Documentation, spares and training at handover

Make handover conditional on a complete document set: general assembly and electrical drawings, pneumatic and vacuum circuit diagrams where fitted, the PLC and HMI program with the ownership or escrow terms stated, the recipe or parameter structure, calibration certificates for the temperature and pressure instruments, the spare-parts list with part numbers, the consumables list, and the maintenance schedule with intervals. Add the training deliverables — who was trained, on what, and for how long — plus the operator and maintenance manuals in the language your team reads. For a production environment, also record the software version and any licence terms that expire.

5. Commercial terms that the plan has to protect

  • Payment milestones tied to factory acceptance, site acceptance and end of run-in — not to delivery.
  • What happens if a criterion is missed: number of re-tests, who pays for them, and the remedy or reduction if it is still missed.
  • Warranty start date defined by site acceptance, with exclusions stated.
  • Response time and remote-support terms, and the lead time for the wear parts your trial identified.
  • Change control: which party owns process parameter development on your materials, and who owns the resulting data.

Gaps to close before you sign

PowerDe lists this machine in its Thin-Film Solar Equipment range and also offers Hardware Testing and engineering services, so use that conversation to obtain the figures the public listing leaves open — platen size, temperature uniformity, pressure profile, vacuum pull time, machine footprint and utility demand — and put them in the plan as the values you will test against. A buyer who writes an acceptance plan from published figures alone will find the machine meets the brochure and still fails to make product; the plan is worth the effort precisely because it forces both sides to agree, in advance, what "working" means on your electrode stack.
