A request for quotation that lists only a machine category rarely survives the first engineering review. Buyers of automation machinery get better results when the specification names the process behind the machine, not just the machine. Before a supplier can quote, they need to know what the equipment is expected to do to a product, at what cadence, and inside what environment.
Shenzhen PowerDe Automation Precision Equipment has been building automation equipment and intelligent cleaning solutions in Shenzhen since 2007. Across cleaning equipment, semiconductor process equipment and thin-film solar equipment, the same six blocks of process information appear in every project brief that moves forward. The list below is the one we ask buyers to complete before the first design meeting.
1. The product being processed
Start with the workpiece. Dimensions, weight, material, and surface finish set the handling, fixturing and cleaning method. A 5-inch touch glass and an 86-inch LCD panel need different bonding platforms; a hospital bed frame and an engine compartment need different steam delivery. Send drawings or photos of the product as it arrives at the station, together with any part that has already failed inspection.
2. The process step and its tolerances
State the operation in measurable terms. In our membrane-electrode bonding machines, the listing specifies a fitting error within 0.2 mm, a working vacuum of 60 Pa or less, and press pressure in the tonne range; a laser cutting station or a vacuum laminating line is defined the same way. For a cleaning machine the equivalent numbers are steam temperature, vapor pressure and whether the job calls for dry steam, wet steam or hot water. If the tolerance is unknown, say so; the supplier should ask for the inspection report that defines it.
3. Cycle time and throughput
Quote the required output as pieces per minute or per shift, and note whether the line runs continuously or in batches. Throughput drives the number of stations, the size of the tank, the heating power, and whether the answer is a single benchtop unit or a full assembly line. A one-off prototype cell and a production line carrying automotive display modules are engineered to different standards of rigidity, guarding and uptime.
4. Utilities and the installation site
List the available power supply, water source, compressed air, drainage and floor loading, plus the ambient temperature range. Our fixed steam cleaning machine is built on a 220 V supply with a tap-water inlet; a mobile unit that runs on battery solves a different problem in an indoor garage with no fixed water line. Nitrogen, exhaust extraction and cleanroom class matter just as much for deposition and coating work.
5. Integration, control and data
Say where the machine sits in the line: manual load, inline with upstream and downstream conveyors, or standalone. Name the control expectations — recipe storage, alignment feedback, vision inspection, alarm logging, and the protocol the plant PLC already uses. CCD alignment and roller bonding, for instance, only pay off when the machine can feed alignment results back into the process.
6. Constraints, standards and acceptance
Close the brief with what the machine must satisfy to be accepted: safety protection expected on electrical and pressure systems, footprint and door size, spare-parts policy, commissioning support, and the test you will run at sign-off. For automated production line solutions, an agreed acceptance protocol protects both sides and shortens the commissioning window.
Where engineering services fit
If the process has not been defined yet, build the definition before the quotation. Our engineering services cover product development, hardware testing and manufacturing automation for buyers who arrive with a requirement but not a drawing. Send the six blocks above, even where several are still open questions, and the first conversation becomes a design review rather than a price check.
