What should be included in an acceptance check for PowerDe HMW2 without battery?

A purchase order for a mobile cleaning machine is only half the job. The other half happens on the loading dock, when the crate is opened and someone has to decide whether the machine that arrives matches the machine the business planned around. For the PowerDe HMW2 driving style steam cleaning machine supplied in the without-battery variant, that decision can be made objectively, because the configuration of this model is documented and the checks that follow from it are concrete. Below is the acceptance routine we suggest running before you sign for the goods.

Know what the without-battery variant is supposed to contain

The HMW2 series is listed in two supply states: one delivered with a battery, one delivered without. The model you are receiving is the second. Its documented working power supply is a 48 V battery, and its documented modes of movement are a mobile active-water machine built for indoor garages and narrow outdoor parking spaces. Three operating modes are described for this series: dry steam, wet steam and hot water.

That single fact changes the whole acceptance check. A missing battery pack is not a shortage on this order, and a missing charger is not a shortage either. What you must confirm instead is that the machine body, the water inlet arrangement, the spray gun and lance, and the power-input arrangement are present, and that your own 48 V supply arrangement is compatible before the machine is ever expected to run. Writing this into the acceptance sheet in advance prevents an unnecessary claim against the shipment and, equally, prevents discovering a compatibility problem after the equipment has been installed.

For reference, the model page is here: PowerDe HMW2 steam cleaner, without battery.

Before the crate is opened: paperwork and physical condition

Photograph the packaging in its delivered state, on all sides, before anything is cut. Note the packing list number, the carton count and the gross weight shown on the labels. If the carton count on the packing list does not match the number of cartons that arrived, record it at that moment rather than after unpacking. For a machine that carries a heating element and a water tank inside a steel frame, transport damage is worth documenting early because it is often visible only as a dented panel or a sheared mounting point.

Then check three document items against the order: the model designation on the nameplate, the supply state (with or without battery), and the serial number. The nameplate is the authority here. If the nameplate reads a different model or a different supply state from the contract, stop and resolve it before the machine is put into service.

The item-by-item physical check

Work through the machine with the packing list in hand and tick each item. The list below follows the configuration described on the HMW2 product page.

  • Machine body, frame and panels: no deformation of the frame, no cracked panels, no detached handles or bumpers.
  • Water tank: empty, clean inside, no residual shipping water left in it, no smell of welding or oil in the tank.
  • Water inlet fitting: the HMW2 is described as taking tap water through a 4-point internal-tooth fitting. Confirm the fitting is undamaged and note its size so the hose and any adapter you buy afterwards match it.
  • High-pressure water gun, lance and nozzles: count them against the packing list and inspect the hose ends for kinks or crushed fittings.
  • Electrical inlet and cable: intact insulation, no crushed cable runs, no exposed conductors.
  • Battery compartment: on the without-battery variant, inspect the compartment and its connectors for corrosion or bent terminals, and confirm no battery or charger has been supplied. Note the empty compartment on the acceptance sheet so the state is on record.
  • Documents: the operating manual, the wiring or connection diagram, and the warranty card, in a language your operators can read.

A practical habit worth adopting: photograph the completed, ticked acceptance sheet together with the nameplate. If a component turns out to be missing two weeks later, you have evidence of what was in the crate on day one.

Functional checks that can be done without a battery pack

Some checks do not depend on the missing power source at all. Run them first, because a fault found here is a shipping or manufacturing issue rather than an installation issue.

Turn the machine by hand to its working position and push it on its wheels through a doorway of the width you actually have on site. The HMW2 is presented for indoor garages and narrow parking areas, and the space you have is part of the specification. Measure the turning path you need, and confirm the machine negotiates it before the crate material is recycled.

Fill the tank with clean tap water and let the machine stand filled for a short period while you complete the rest of the check. Watch the tank seams, the fitting and every hose connection for weeping. A joint that sweats under static head will spray once the pump is running, so catching it now is cheaper than catching it later.

Inspect the mode selector and the controls for a firm, complete action, and read the labels next to each control. Dry steam, wet steam and hot water are the three modes on this machine; make sure the control markings and the manual agree with each other, because operators learn the modes from those markings.

The power-interface acceptance test, done once your supply is ready

This is the step that makes the without-battery variant different from a normal delivery, and it belongs on the acceptance sheet as a separate line. Confirm the following before the first heated run:

  • Your battery or power source matches the documented 48 V working supply, and its connector matches the machine inlet mechanically and in polarity.
  • Any battery you supply is charged and balanced according to its own manual before it is connected, not at the moment of commissioning.
  • Cable sizing and protection are suitable for the machine's heating load at 48 V; ask the supplier to state the recommended cable and protection for your source rather than guessing.
  • The machine's protective functions respond as described. The HMW2 page refers to leakage, short-circuit, high-temperature, high-voltage and water-shortage protection. Verify each one that can be safely simulated at commissioning, and record the result.

Run the machine through all three modes with water in the tank, and observe the spray pattern from each nozzle. Then repeat the run with your intended nozzle for the heaviest job you have. Where a machine is used on vehicles, engine bays and interior surfaces are the demanding cases, so test against those surfaces and not only against a clean floor.

What to leave out of the acceptance sheet, and what to ask for

Do not put a target number on the sheet for a figure the product page does not publish. Steam temperature and steam pressure, battery capacity and runtime, weight, hose and lance lengths, the full accessory list, noise level and hourly water consumption are not stated for this model. If your purchasing decision depends on any of those, request them in writing and make the answer part of the acceptance criteria; do not infer them from a similar model in the range.

Two further points to settle in writing before or during acceptance: which spare parts are stocked and how quickly they ship, and what is covered when a wear item such as a seal, hose or nozzle fails in normal use. These questions decide how long the machine stays in service between planned stops, and they are easier to agree now than to argue about later.

Choosing between the variants, if acceptance has not started yet

If you already own suitable 48 V battery packs, the without-battery supply state is the sensible order and acceptance is straightforward with the sheet above. If you do not, order the variant supplied with a battery, so that power source, charger and machine are warranted as one set. The with-battery version of the same model is listed here: PowerDe HMW2 steam cleaning machine, including battery.

All of these machines belong to the wider PowerDe cleaning equipment range, which also covers hand-pushed and fixed steam cleaning machines for garages, commercial cleaning and industrial maintenance. If the acceptance check on your HMW2 shows that the machine is right but the power arrangement is not, that is a configuration question rather than a defect, and it is usually settled by changing the supply variant on the next order.

Sign the sheet only when the sheet is complete

An acceptance check on the without-battery HMW2 comes down to four things: the nameplate matches the contract model and supply state; every item on the packing list is present and undamaged; the water side holds pressure-free water without weeping; and the 48 V interface has been confirmed compatible and tested through dry steam, wet steam and hot water. Record each with a signature and a date. Where a line cannot be verified on the day, write the reason and the date it will be verified, and do not close the acceptance until that date has passed.
