Which performance measures should buyers define for PowerDe PWD01 without battery?

A PWD01 ordered without a battery is not a cheaper PWD01. It is a different procurement: the machine arrives with its 48 V supply slot empty, and the buyer has to close that gap with something that keeps the unit working through a full shift. Settle the performance questions on paper before the purchase order goes out, and the same machine will behave the way your team expects on day one.

Start with what the machine already guarantees

The PowerDe PWD01 without battery is a driving-style mobile active-water cleaning machine. Three cleaning modes are built in — dry steam, wet steam and hot water — and the published specification covers machine dimensions of L2500 × W900 × H1050 mm, an 80 L clean water tank, a 4.5 kW PTC semiconductor heater, a tap-water inlet with a 4-point internal-tooth joint, and a high-pressure water gun with nozzle. Working voltage is 48 V from a mobile battery, and the page states that batteries are customer provided.

The safety package is part of the machine, not the battery: leakage protection, short-circuit protection, high-temperature protection, high-voltage protection, water-shortage protection and high-voltage explosion-proof design. A vacuum cleaner with a flat nozzle and a sewage tank round out the configuration. None of this changes because the battery is your responsibility — but everything above it now depends on a power source you have to define.

Measure 1: usable shift time on your own duty cycle

Runtime is the first number to argue about, and it is the one most often bought on a manufacturer's optimistic figure. Write down your real duty cycle instead: how many minutes of heating the 4.5 kW element runs per hour, how long the unit is driven between cleaning points, and how much of the shift is idle standby. A 48 V pack sized for that duty cycle, with a safety margin on top, is a defensible specification; a pack picked from a catalogue curve usually is not.

Ask your supplier for two figures in writing: continuous output power at the temperature of your site, and capacity measured at the discharge rate the heater actually draws. Capacity quoted at a light discharge rate will not survive a 4.5 kW heating load. Then agree in the contract what "a full shift" means — hours of operation, not kilometres or charge cycles alone.

Measure 2: the charger as part of the acceptance test

A battery-only discussion hides half of the cost. If your operation runs two shifts, the pack has to recharge inside the break, which puts the charger into the specification. State the charge time you require from the state your team actually leaves the machine in, and confirm that the charger's output and connector match the pack you buy. The PWD01 page does not publish a battery capacity, runtime or charger output for the battery-less variant, so those figures come from your procurement, not from the datasheet.

Measure 3: how the machine moves through your real layout

This model is built for indoor garages and narrow outdoor parking areas, and it moves under autonomous driving with the ability to stop and be driven at any point. Measure your site against the footprint: the L2500 × W900 × H1050 mm envelope, plus the turning space your ramps, columns and doorways allow. Buy the machine for the aisle you have, not for the open floor in the demonstration video.

Put movement into the acceptance test as well. Ask the operators to walk the intended route on the day of commissioning — loaded, through the tightest passage, on the surface you actually have. A driving-style cleaning equipment that cannot complete its own route is not a performance problem of the machine; it is a layout problem you bought along with it.

Measure 4: water and consumables per job

An 80 L clean water tank sets a practical limit on how far a job runs before a refill, and the tap-water inlet with a 4-point internal-tooth joint decides how fast that refill happens on site. Count refills per shift for the job mix you expect — vehicle exteriors, engine compartments, hard standing — and you will know whether 80 L is enough or whether you are buying an operator's time in walking distance.

The same count applies downstream: a sewage tank and a vacuum cleaner with a flat nozzle mean disposal points and emptying time. Where water use matters to your site rules, the dry-steam and hot-water modes give your team options that a plain pressure washer does not, which is exactly why hot water and steam cleaning machine comparisons are worth running before you commit to a single mode of working.

Measure 5: what your team does when power drops

Write the fallback into the procedure. If the pack runs flat mid-shift, can the machine be moved out of the aisle by hand, swapped to a spare battery, or parked safely until the next charge? The answers decide whether you buy a spare pack, a second charger, or a different shift pattern. Decide before commissioning, and the operators get one page of instruction instead of improvisation.

Measure 6: service and interface responsibility

With a customer-provided battery, the boundary between machine fault and battery fault has to be defined before the first complaint. Agree who supports the pack, who supplies the connector and cable set, and what evidence — error code, voltage log, controller readout — you will collect when something stops working. A clear interface saves weeks of argument with two suppliers pointing at each other.

A short specification block to send with your inquiry

Buyers who order this variant successfully tend to send the same short list: required shift hours per charge; site temperature range; aisle width and turning space at the tightest point; number of water refills acceptable per shift; charger type and recharge window; battery interface and connector standard; and the service split between machine and battery. Fill those seven lines and your inquiry stops being a price request and becomes a quotable specification.
