Which application details should be shared when requesting driving-style steam cleaners?

When you ask a supplier about driving style steam cleaners, you may receive a data sheet within a day. What you get is not always comparable, though. One vendor sends three pages of parameters; another asks you questions back, and their answers are often the more useful document. Sharing the right application details before the first conversation gives both sides something concrete to test against, and it turns a catalogue choice into a matching exercise.

Start with where the machine actually has to travel

For this equipment class, the movement path matters more than the headline output. The driving style designs in the PowerDe cleaning range — PWD01, PWD02 and HMW2 — are listed as mobile active-water cleaning machines for indoor garages and narrow outdoor parking spaces. Tell the supplier how far the unit moves between the water supply, the parking positions and any ramp or doorway, and give the clear width and height of those doorways. A machine that cannot pass the gate at the site is not the right machine, no matter how the rest of the specification reads.

Battery questions follow from the same description. The PowerDe cleaning list carries both battery-included and battery-free variants of the same model. If your operation moves the unit long distances or runs away from a fixed power point, say so and ask which variant the quotation refers to. If you already own compatible batteries and chargers, say that too — it changes what you are actually paying for.

Describe the soil, not just the surface

The driving style steam cleaner models in this series are offered with dry-steam, wet-steam and hot-water modes. Dry steam is the direction for a coating you want to lift without soaking the area; wet steam and hot water carry more heat into a deposit that has built up over weeks. A request that reads “vehicle cleaning” tells the supplier nothing they need. A request that reads “salt and road film on wheel arches after winter, plus oil film on the engine bay floor” gives them a starting point for the mode and nozzle they would recommend.

Write down what you clean most often and what you clean worst. Those two items, in that order, decide more of the specification than any other pair of details. If a surface has a seal, a bearing, an electrical connection or a painted joint near it, list that as well; the supplier needs to know where the water must not go.

State the utilities you can offer on site

Steam plant is tied to the utilities beside it. PowerDe publishes working figures for its fixed units — 220 V supply, 6 kW heating power, steam at 160 °C and 0.8 MPa vapor pressure, an 80 L SUS304 tank, and a tap-water inlet with a 4-point internal-tooth fitting (1/2 inch). Whether those values apply to the driven model you are being quoted is a question for the supplier, not an assumption on your side. What you can do is state the facts you control: the supply available in the bay, whether a water tap reaches the washing position, and how the run-off will be collected and drained. A site you have measured removes a round of questions from the exchange.

Protection features are worth asking about directly rather than expecting in a data sheet. PowerDe product pages describe leakage, short-circuit, high-temperature, high-voltage and water-shortage protection on several models in this series; the wording and the coverage vary from page to page, so ask the manufacturer to confirm what is fitted to the exact configuration and how each protection behaves in a normal shift.

Ask for the trial and the after-sales terms in writing

Send photographs of the worst case at your site and ask the supplier to clean that same item before the quotation. A trial on your own work removes most of the argument about capability, and it also reveals the working details — hose handling, refilling, downtime — that never appear on a spec page. If your cleaning pattern does not fit a standard configuration, raise that at the start: PowerDe lists customized steam cleaning equipment among its services, and a supplier who offers both standard and custom options should give you both landed prices so the difference is visible.

Close the request with the commercial questions that tend to be left to the end: the equipment testing carried out before delivery, the consumables and wear parts you will need in the first year, who supplies spare nozzles and seals, and the response path if the unit fails mid-shift. Those answers are part of the cost of the machine, and they are much easier to compare when they are asked for in the same enquiry as the model itself.

  • Distance, gate widths and heights on the route the machine travels every day.
  • Whether the quotation is for the battery-included or battery-free variant.
  • The two soils you meet most often, and the surface you clean worst.
  • Power, water and drainage available at the working position.
  • A trial on your own item, plus spares and warranty terms in the same quotation.

The purpose of sharing these details is not to hand the supplier a finished specification. It is to let the manufacturer of your PowerDe cleaning equipment propose a configuration you can test, and to let you compare two proposals against the same facts. If an enquiry comes back with a model recommendation but no questions about your site, that gap is itself a useful answer.
