What the published footprint actually measures
The HMW3 without battery is documented at L1150 × W520 × H1030 mm, with a hand-push mode of movement, a 4.5 kW PTC semiconductor heater, a 50 L clean water tank, a tap-water inlet with a 4-point internal-tooth fitting, and a high-pressure water gun with a nozzle. Those figures are the same physical envelope for the battery version, because the battery sits inside a cabinet that was already designed around it.
For a comparison exercise, work with clearances rather than the catalogue number alone. A 520 mm width passes through a standard single doorway and most ward doors. A 1150 mm length means you need turning space at the end of a corridor, and a 1030 mm height means the machine rolls under most beds and under ward trolleys, but not under a fixed-height shelf or a low duct run. Measure the narrowest point on your route, not the door you entered through.
Footprint: identical in both variants
When you compare Hand Pushed Steam Cleaning Machine PowerDe HMW3 (without battery) with the PowerDe HMW3 including battery, the machine dimensions and the hand-push handling do not change. The footprint difference is therefore not a difference between two machines. It is a difference in what you park next to the machine.
With the battery version, the charging point is the extra item you have to allocate. A wall socket near the store room, or a charging corner in the plant room, becomes part of the layout. With the no-battery version, you keep the same cabinet and add the power supply arrangement for the 48 V working voltage instead. The footprint question on site is whether you can get the cabinet from store to task, and where you can leave it between tasks.
Capacity: what the 50 L tank really covers
A 50 L clean water tank is the capacity figure that sets your working rhythm. It decides how long the machine runs before an operator refills, and how many tasks you can group into one fill. Two things shrink that working window, and neither of them is in the machine:
- The distance from the nearest water point. Long walk-backs add operator time that never appears in a specification sheet.
- The pattern of the work. Continuous spraying on large floor areas drains a 50 L tank much faster than spot work on beds, rails and equipment housings.
Rather than guessing from an hourly rate that is not published for this model, run a simple test. Fill the tank, work one typical task from start to finish, and record how much of the tank you used and how long the task took. Multiply that by the number of tasks a shift has to finish. That gives you a defensible refill count and tells you whether you need one water point or two.
What the battery changes in practice
The HMW3 runs on a 48 V battery supply, so the battery variant gives you freedom from a trailing cable while you work. That matters in a hospital ward, where a cable across a doorway is a hazard and a trip hazard audit will stop the job. It also matters in areas where the socket is far from the task or is already occupied.
The no-battery variant suits a depot or store room with fixed power, and it suits buyers who already hold the batteries from earlier equipment and want to reuse them. If your work is short, local and near a supply, the no-battery option is the simpler asset to manage. If your work crosses floors or long corridors, the battery removes the constraint you will otherwise fight every shift. Our PowerDe steam cleaning machine range also covers driving-style and fixed models, so a single site can mix a hand-pushed machine for wards with a larger fixed unit for the laundry or plant room.
A comparison checklist you can hand to your facilities team
Before you choose between the two variants, walk the route and write down:
- The narrowest clear width and the tightest turning radius between store room and task area.
- Thresholds, ramps, lifts and any step the 1150 × 520 mm base has to cross.
- The distance from the working area to the nearest clean water point and to a charging or power point.
- Whether the cabinet can be parked in the store room without blocking a required escape route.
Then send us those measurements with your task list. If the HMW3 base does not clear a particular route, we will tell you which intelligent cleaning equipment manufacturer alternative in our range fits, rather than sell you a machine that spends its life stuck at a doorway.
Getting a written answer for your site
Email the route measurements, the number of tasks per shift and the water-point layout to sales@powerde.net, and we will confirm the variant, the refill plan and the accessory set for your site. If your enquiry involves a hospital bed or medical machinery cleaning duty, include the infection-control requirement you are working to, so the proposal matches the standard you have to evidence.
