What should be included in a handover package for electrical control system development?

Buyers comparing steam cleaning machines usually start with power and end confused, because two units with similar heating figures can occupy completely different amounts of floor and run for very different lengths of time before someone refills a tank. Footprint, tank capacity and working pressure are not three separate specifications; they describe one physical object that has to fit through your door, hold enough water for your job, and deliver a jet you can control. Comparing them together is what turns a specification sheet into a purchasing decision.

Measure the footprint against your real path, not the room

Start where the machine has to travel: door width, ramp gradient, lift threshold, turning space in the bay. A fixed unit such as the Fixed Steam Cleaning Machine PowerDe HW02 is listed at 1200 × 800 × 1200 mm including handles, which is a doorway problem before it is a floor-space problem. A hand-pushed unit such as the Hand Pushed Steam Cleaning Machine PowerDe HMW3 is listed at L1150 × W520 × H1030 mm and gets through most standard openings. A driving-style mobile machine such as the PWD01 is listed at L2500 × W900 × H1050 mm and needs a vehicle entrance, not a person's entrance.

Two details decide whether the printed dimension is useful: whether the figure includes handles, wheels and hose reels, and whether the vendor gives you the turning radius or only the rectangle. Ask for both, and ask what clearance the manufacturer recommends around the unit for servicing and for the water inlet connection.

Capacity is a work-session figure, not a tank figure

Tank volume tells you how long you can work before refilling, but only once you convert it into your own session. An 80 L clean water tank on the HW02 and a 50 L tank on the HMW3 look like a 60 % difference on paper. In a facility with a tap within ten metres, both are refilled in under a minute and the difference disappears. In a first-floor mechanical room with no water point, the same difference decides whether one operator or two are needed during a shift.

Capacity also has a second component that buyers forget to compare: what happens to the dirty water. Some units collect runoff in a sewage tank, others let it fall to a drain. If your site cannot accept runoff on the floor — food areas, hospital wards, finished-goods zones — then the recovery capacity is part of the specification, not an accessory.

Read working pressure and temperature as a pair

Working pressure sets how hard the jet hits; steam temperature sets how quickly grease and soil release. Comparing pressure alone is a common buying mistake. The HW02 page publishes 0.8 MPa vapour pressure together with a 160 °C steam temperature and 6 kW of heating power — a combination built for sustained work on vehicle panels and engine bays. The HMW3 page publishes 4.5 kW of PTC semiconductor heating on a 48 V battery supply with a smaller tank. Higher pressure on a smaller machine is not automatically better; on a painted surface, on insulation jacketing, or on older gaskets, a gentler setting with more temperature does the work with less damage.

Comparison dimension What to ask each supplier
Footprint Dimensions including handles and fittings, plus the width of the narrowest point on the path to the work area.
Clean water and recovery Tank material and volume, where the inlet connects, and whether runoff is collected or drained.
Pressure and temperature Are both adjustable, and what is the lowest setting for delicate surfaces?
Power source Mains 220 V, or battery — and who supplies the battery, charger and cable.
Duty pattern Minutes of continuous spraying per session before refill or recharge, measured on a trial, not quoted from a brochure.

Run one machine through your own day

The decisive step is a trial on your site with your surfaces. Walk the machine along the route it will take, fill it from the tap you will actually use, and time how long a normal job takes before the tank or the battery runs down. Record the number. Two models that look interchangeable online separate quickly once you have that number, because it reveals whether the tank size matches your distance to a water point and whether the power source matches your shift pattern.

The Cleaning Equipment Series pages publish these figures in different formats from one model to another, so put every candidate into the same table before comparing prices. Where a figure is missing — weight, hose length, runtime — send the gap list to the manufacturer and get it answered in writing rather than inferring it from the model name.

Send the vendor your doorway widths, distance to a water supply, and the length of a typical cleaning session, and ask them to shortlist the model whose footprint, tank and pressure range fit those three constraints.
