What should be confirmed before selecting PowerDe HMW3 with battery?

Start with the power source, not the steam settings

Most buyers compare a hand-pushed steam cleaning machine on heating power and steam output. On the PowerDe HMW3, both are fixed: the specification table shows a 4.5 kW PTC semiconductor heater and a choice of dry steam or wet steam. The one variable that changes your work pattern is the battery. So the first question in your evaluation should be whether the machine runs on-board power or on a mobile battery pack, and what that means for the site where it will actually be used.

The HMW3 is listed in two configurations, one with the battery included and one without, both with the same 48 V battery as the working power supply. The decision you are really making is about logistics: how the pack is sourced, carried, charged, and replaced when you order spare units later.

Confirm what “including battery” covers before you compare prices

The product listings state the 48 V working power supply, but they do not publish the battery capacity, runtime per charge, or charger output. Ask the supplier in writing for those three figures plus the weight of the pack, and put them in your purchase record. With that information you can answer the practical questions that decide whether one pack is enough:

  • Does the quoted price include one battery pack or more, and is a charger in the same box or a separate line item?
  • Which cells and chemistry are used, and can the same pack be ordered as a spare after the warranty period?
  • What is the runtime under continuous steam output, measured on a machine you will actually operate at full heating power?
  • How long is a full charge, and can the machine be fed from mains power while the pack is charging?

A machine quoted with the battery included is not automatically the better deal if the pack is a chemistry you cannot ship or service locally. A machine quoted without the battery is not automatically cheaper if you have to source a compatible 48 V pack and charger yourself. Compare the two configurations on the same list of included parts, then compare the price.

Match the power arrangement to the room you are cleaning

The HMW3 is a hand-push unit measuring L1150 × W520 × H1030 mm, with a 50 L clean water tank fed by tap water through a 4-point internal-tooth fitting, and cleaning done with a high-pressure water gun and nozzle. That footprint works well in corridors, ward areas, and equipment bays where a larger fixed machine cannot be moved in. A battery-fed machine is useful precisely in those places, because you are not dragging a mains cable across a floor you are trying to keep clean and dry.

The same freedom has a cost. A flat pack stops production until it is charged, so multi-shift use usually means a second pack. Where a socket is close at hand and shifts are long, a mains-fed unit such as the fixed steam cleaning machine may be the simpler choice for a permanent cleaning point. Decide this from your shift pattern and the distance between power outlets, not from the datasheet alone.

Check the safety package and the water supply

PowerDe lists leakage protection, short-circuit protection, high-temperature protection, high-voltage protection, water-shortage protection, and high-voltage explosion protection for the HMW3. Treat that list as a starting point for your own risk assessment rather than a substitute for one. Confirm the protection functions are tested on delivery, and check that the water inlet on site is a tap-water supply with the matching fitting, because the machine is designed to be fed from a tap rather than run from a portable container.

For healthcare and other regulated environments, ask for the documentation your own inspectors will ask for: the declarations of conformity and test reports for the machine as configured in your order, including the battery pack and charger. The paperwork has to match the delivered configuration, so the battery choice you make at quotation stage affects compliance, spare parts, and shipping at the same time.

A short specification check you can send to the supplier

Before you place the order, have the supplier confirm the published figures against the unit they intend to ship: 4.5 kW heating power with PTC semiconductor heating, 50 L clean water tank, dry steam and wet steam modes, 48 V battery as the working power supply, hand-push movement, and the L1150 × W520 × H1030 mm machine dimensions. Then add the missing items to that same email — battery capacity, runtime, charger output, pack weight, quantity included, and the accessory set delivered with the gun.

If your requirement is a vehicle or parking-area cleaning point instead of a medical or indoor one, look at the PowerDe cleaning equipment range and check the model against your own site conditions before choosing. Send your layout, shift pattern, and power situation, and ask for the configuration that fits them.
